In this video I’m installing Funny Playing IPS screen / kit in a DMG GameBoy.
It’s an easy mod / install and it is a great upgrade for the DMG GameBoy – the screen is bigger, brighter and crisp.
I’m reusing original shell which makes the mod slightly more involved but IPS ready reproduction shells are also available if you don’t want to modify original shell. And the whole process is a lot easier with IPS ready shell. All the accessories and replacement parts mentioned in this video can be purchased from the awesome retro game store – www.eebuys.com..
Thank you so much for this easy to follow video guide. I just did my first of these for a customer at my game store thanks to you. Hardest part was definitely cutting out more screen space on the shell. I felt I did too much and yet I probably could have shaved off just a smidge more on one side. Thank you so much again!
This must be the funnyplaying ips v4 q5 screen as it has less feature compared the to the hispeedido ips v4 q5 screen

Is this IPS V4 or V5?
Looks great. Is that the v4 or the v5 version of the screen? Some seem to be much smaller.

This is a great solution to the screen missing columns of dot matrix “pixels”. It’s unfortunate because the original is so nostalgic but it’s necessary as almost all of the original screens will succumb to this issue. These new IPS screens also replicate the original look while improving the overall game experience. Nice job!
